Social Impact Tours

Social Impact Tours © were pioneered in South Africa by SASDI. The concept was designed around the very great need that exists in our previously disadvantaged communities for social upliftment and poverty alleviation and the great wealth that these communities have to offer in terms of meaningful interaction, magnificent African culture and a wonderful humanity. If you add the natural beauty of Cape Town, its amazing diversity and wonderful tourist attractions, to this equation, you have the makings of a life changing experience.

A Social Impact Tour is not for everyone. It is designed for the educated traveller, who desires to really engage with local people, local culture and who has a real heart for the poor, a determination to do something useful and meaningful for the upliftment of their fellow man and woman. A typical project will involve volunteers in a hands-on contribution to that project. Whether volunteers are involved in building a much needed crèche in partnership with a local community, renovating a community hospital or building a youth development centre, each project is a wonderful collaboration between the volunteers and community members responsible for that project. As SASDI only partners with sustainable community projects, we design highly specialised, interactive social impact experiences that are guaranteed to inspire both volunteer and beneficiary.

As proud South Africans, we ensure that each itinerary also allows volunteers to experience the breathtaking beauty of the Cape Peninsula and the relaxing attractions and activities that have made Cape Town the most popular destination in Africa. A typical project therefore will see volunteers setting off after their community build, on a tour of the most beautiful parts of South Africa and a well-deserved break.
